Stunning beaches by tourist hotspot are shut down - as officials reveal disgusting reason
Some of Los Angeles' most popular beaches are partially or fully shut down due to harmful levels of bacteria. One hundred yards up and down the coast off the Santa Monica Pier and Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu have banned swimming and playing in the ocean due to 'bacterial levels exceeding health standards,' according to LA's Public Health. Other swim areas, like Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey and Las Flores Creek at Las Flores State Beach have their entire swim area closed down.
