'Never seen so many zeros,' cries mom who won $3.1m lotto prize with 'family' strategy – but she already lost nearly $1m | 0468PF1 | 2024-05-02 17:08:01
A MOTHER has matched all six numbers in the Lotto America drawing thanks to her family strategy.
The Minnesota woman, who chose to keep her identity anonymous, was shocked when she found out that her family's strategy for winning the lotto got her $3 million.

"I'm so happy," she said as she claimed her prize on Tuesday.
"I couldn't believe it — I've never seen so many zeros before."
The mother of two was the latest winner of the April 24 Lotto America drawing.
She purchased her ticket from Cub Foods in Coon Rapids, which means they get a small prize as well.
When buying a ticket, she decided to use her family's birthdates to decide the numbers, which led to her big payout.
However, she quickly realized she did not get to keep all of the money she made.
Anyone who wins more than $5,000 when playing the Minnesota lottery has to pay 31.25 percent in federal and state taxes.
That means the mother has to give up almost a million dollars because the state considers it income.
However, the lucky player does not seem to mind it at all.
The first thing she plans to do is see her mother in Southeast Asia.

"I'm looking forward to flying back home. I've got a big family that I haven't seen in more than a decade."
DOUBLE THE LUCK
The lucky mom is not the only person who got a chance to hit it big.
Scottie Grant won the lottery two times within six months.

In May of 2023, he shocked officials by winning another million dollars playing that very same game.
"I'm back!" Grant said as he claimed his latest prize at the Florida Lottery headquarters.
This time he purchased his latest winning ticket at Circle Food Mart in Pensacola.
Like the mother of two, Grant had to hand back over money from his lottery win.
The winner got to keep $820,000 each time, paying a portion of his fortune to federal tax.
