'Use it for Walmart too,' begs Sam's Club customer who hails new receipt check tool – honest shoppers won't be penalized | 0468PF1 | 2024-05-02 17:08:01
WALMART shoppers have been demanding immediate change after Sam's Club released its new AI tool to eliminate traditional receipt checks.
Sam's Club has unveiled its new AI-powered machines to check people's receipts, and Walmart customers are slamming the retailer for not incorporating it into its stores as well.

"Great idea. Use it for Walmart too. No more problems with employees fighting with customers who have paid for all their items," one person wrote on Facebook.
"Walmart next! There's never any open human checkouts!" another person commented.
"Then stop trying to check my receipt at Walmart!" a third person wrote.
Walmart, which owns Sam's Club, announced that it was introducing the new AI scanner in January to the wholesale club.
In a few short months, the retailer added the new tech to over 120 locations due to its overwhelming success and positive feedback.
With the new tool, shoppers are able to use the Wholesale club's Scan and Go app or visit the register as they normally do.
From there, they can leave the store and the AI system will capture images of the cart as the customer exits the store.
This allows the company to verify people's items without potentially creating a long line.
"Both exit technology and Scan & Go are driving new levels of convenience and raising member satisfaction among members," Sam's Club chief product officer Todd Garner said in a press release.
"What distinguishes Sam's Club from our competitors is our ability to seamlessly deploy this technology at scale across our nearly 600 clubs nationwide.
"Whether it's a single item or a cartful, we're revolutionizing the checkout experience."

Walmart revealed that the machines will be available at all locations by the end of 2024.
Since its debut, customers have been excited about the major change.

"I love scan and go!!! So much faster no checkout lines!!" another person added.
Even an employee noted how helpful this tool could be for them.
"I am the exit checker now at a local Sams. So glad this is coming!! I will now be able to help the people with a mistake in their cart without holding up the whole line of members behind them. The sooner it gets to our store the better!"
RECEIPT WOES
Walmart customers have been asking the retailer to put an end to the receipt check policy for some time.
"The stolen items will not be on the receipt. So how do they check by scanning the receipt? Or am I missing something?" questioned a user on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Walmart remove the self-checkout if you gonna look at my receipt for 5 min at the door bc you think mfs is stealing like tf that's how you effectively cut that," added another.
Some people have outright refused to comply due to their own personal principles.
"I never stop to show my receipt at Walmart," wrote an X user.
"Cause yall could've seen the damn receipt yourself if you were working at a register," they continued.
"But noooo I had to check myself out so no receipt for you."
