October's supermoon lit up the night sky on Monday, Oct. 6, creating countless photo opportunities for photographers around the world.
The world witnessed the peak of October's full moon just before midnight at 11:47 p.m. ET.
This month's full moon was a supermoon, according to NASA, making it look 30% brighter and up to 14% larger than it usually does. Supermoons happen when a new moon or a full moon is at its closest to Earth all month, according to NASA. The phenomenon is known as "perigee."
October's full moon is also known as the Harvest Moon, and it coincided with the beginning of the Draconid meteor shower.
