Demi Lovato is excited for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco.

Lovato, 33, appeared on the Tuesday, Sept. 16 episode of Watch What Happens Live to promote her upcoming album, It's Not That Deep. She briefly chatted about her fellow Disney Channel alum, 33, and Gomez's engagement to Blanco, 37. Gomez and Blanco announced their engagement in December 2024.

Lovato was asked about Gomez's recent comments on the July 10 episode of Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast. At the time, Gomez spoke about the huge success her fellow Disney Channel stars have reached. "From the Jonas Brothers to Miley [Cyrus] and Demi [Lovato]," Gomez said, "it's good to see them all do their thing."

"I heard clips she said on the podcast," Lovato said when asked about Gomez during WWHL. "It was really, really sweet."

Adding that she "couldn't be happier for her" and for Blanco and their upcoming marriage, Lovato said, "I just wish her the best."

Lovato also shared that she's listened to Gomez and Blanco's latest album, I Said I Love You First. "Really, really great job," she said.

"I love the songs on it," Lovato said, noting that she really enjoyed "Bluest Flame."

The two singers first met when they starred on Barney and Friends in 2001, when they were 7 years old. Their friendship continued as they both starred on hit children's TV series, Lovato on Sonny With a Chance and Gomez on Wizards of Waverly Place. Towards the end of their Disney Channel tenure, they also starred together in Princess Protection Program in 2009.

There were rumors that their friendship had fractured before their reconciliation in 2011. Their relationship reportedly soured in 2014 and it has not been the same since. Despite this, they have continued to praise each other's professional work.

Lovato recently spoke to PAPER about her time with Disney, and how she and her fellow Disney stars - including Gomez, Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers - were the "last generation of that hustle culture."

"I think there are better protections put in place for them now, or at least I'd hope so," she said.
