Corey Feldman may be starting from the bottom, but that just means it's onwards and upwards from here.

The Hollywood icon stormed the Dancing With the Stars ballroom during the season 34 premiere with a flashy tango alongside partner Jenna Johnson. The pair danced to Billy Joel's classic "It's Still Rock & Roll to Me," riling up the crowd with their dips, spins, and swivels.

Judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough (an illness kept Tonioli's fellow O.G. judge Carrie Ann Inaba from the first episode) enthused about Feldman's interpretation of the classic Argentine dance, with the former calling him "Tango Jackson" and the latter calling it "so fun to watch." And Feldman poured his heart out, eliciting sympathetic "oohs" from the audience when telling co-host Julianne Hough about his battle against scoliosis.

But Derek had to vote his conscience. "Well after that I feel terrible, but love you buddy," he said, before turning up his paddle to reveal an episode-low score of 4.

A smattering of boos rushed toward the judges' panel, as Tonioli revealed he graded Feldman and Johnson slightly higher, with a 5. But the veteran judge defended the newly ascended, pro-turned-judge Hough. "He's doing his job!" Tonioli reminded the audience.

Feldman and Johnson looked disappointed at their low combined score of 9, but as Julianne and her co-host, Feldman's childhood costar Alfonso Ribeiro, constantly remind viewers, audience scores go a long way in determining the outcome of eliminations that will begin next week.

While speaking with Julianne as he waited to receive his final scores, Feldman joked about his childhood connection to Ribeiro, alongside whom he starred in a 1984 Pepsi commercial led by Michael Jackson. "He's the tap dance kid! You can't argue with that. He was winning Tonys when I was still in Reseda," he said, ceding that there's no competition between himself and the DWTS season 19 winner in the dancing department.

Feldman continued to break down the journey he's been on since being diagnosed with scoliosis. "I have to be honest, this is such a reward for me. Honestly, I was thinking for myself, 'How do I make myself better? How do I improve?' Because I have such terrible posture, I've had it since I was a kid and this is such a gift landing in my lap, and it's helping me to fix a problem I've always wanted to get better."

Dancing With the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, and streams the next day on Hulu.
