The 13 Reasons Why star, 28, welcomed his first baby, son Cal Parker Aaron, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, with his wife Kristen, announcing the news via a joint post on Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The post featured several snaps from the newborn's first few days, including pictures of the family of three in the hospital room and of the new parents holding their son.
"Cal Parker Aaron 💙 Welcoming our sweet rainbow baby to the world," Aaron wrote in the caption. "Born August 26th at 1:34pm 7lbs 6oz. So beyond blown away by Kristen who labored for 42 hours and ended up having a c-section. It was a war but we are so beyond blessed our beautiful baby boy is finally here happy and healthy! 😊."

The couple first announced they were expecting a baby and revealed the sex on Instagram in March. The video, set to Chris Lane's "Ain't Even Met You Yet," began with the newly minted parents finding out that they were pregnant during the holiday season.
The video continued to show them attending their first doctor's appointment, telling their family the exiting news, and finding out the sex of their baby.
"Baby Aaron is a…. BOY 💙," Kristen caption the joint post. "We can't wait to meet our little bear 🐻 #genderreveal #itsaboy #boymom"
The actor wed his longtime girlfriend on Nov. 14, 2021, announcing the news exclusively with PEOPLE. The couple exchanged vows at Tre Posti in St. Helena, California. McNamara's uncle and Godfather Mike Yeager married the couple, who recited their own vows during the ceremony.
"I am so thankful we were both able to get through them without hardcore crying," Kristen said. "My favorite line from Austin's vows was, 'I never went to church growing up, but I thank God every day that I met you.'"
Aaron added, "My favorite line from Kristen's vows was, 'You are the person I was meant to find and the person my heart will always love.'"

The two first met at a football party while they were both studying at the University of California, Berkeley.
"I played football, and she was a cheerleader — good thing it wasn't cliché!" he told PEOPLE at the time. "I was about to leave the party and saw the most beautiful smile from across the room and turned around and introduced myself."
As to how he knew she was the one, the actor said it was "the fact that we can go to Target, Marshall's or Ross any day and have the absolute time of our lives."
"We are able to laugh together every day, not take life too seriously and enjoy the little moments in life with each other," he added. "She is my absolute best friend and soulmate."
